HISTORY OF
UNITED BELIEVERS BAPTIST CHURCH
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
As a result of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church New Orleans began holding service in three locations to serve its scattered fellowship. But through the glory of God, something wonderful came about; it quickly became clear that something special was happening. God impressed upon Pastor Fred Luter’s heart to maintain all three churches as they were growing and meeting the needs of each community. In October 2011, Manuel Pigee, III was installed as pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Baton Rouge. The Baton Rouge location began the process of becoming an autonomous church. On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, a vote was taken to determine the name of the new fellowship. It was determined by vote that Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Baton Rouge would be renamed United Believers Baptist Church based on the reference to Psalm 133:1, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity.” With all that we have gone through, our mission remains the same: Exalting the Savior, Equipping the Saints and Evangelizing Sinners.
